Mayor Daley Wins Climate Protection Award

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley has received a 2010 Mayors’ Climate Protection Award in a program co-sponsored by the United States Conference of Mayors. The program recognizes mayors for innovative practices designed to increase energy efficiency and curb global warming.

“Mayor Daley’s Chicago Climate Action Plan (CCAP) offers strategies that can be used by all cities striving to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change ...” said Elizabeth B. Kautz, president of the Conference.

CCAP relies on partnerships with foundations, researchers, nonprofit and community organizations, and corporate partners to achieve an 80 percent reduction below 1990 emission levels by 2050.

As manager of the Greencorps Chicago program, WRD is one such partner, advancing energy efficiency through weatherization while preparing individuals for green jobs.
