Fish Hotel Back for its Fifth Season

Have you seen the Fish Hotel yet? Back in the Chicago River for its fifth season, the Fish Hotel is an award-winning floating habitat designed by WRD Environmental for Friends of the Chicago River. It offers respite for fish in a part of the river that isn’t the most fish-friendly.

The accommodations are quite posh. Plenty of nooks and crannies to hide in, thanks to the submerged fish cribs. Shade, thanks to the native plants on the water’s surface. And food – a veritable salad bar for fish, with algae that cling to the plant roots and plenty of insects.
