Greencorps Chicago: On Location
WRD's Geoff Deigan being interviewed by Jackie Bange, of WGN-TV
WGN-TV’s Jackie Bange spent a day with Greencorps Chicago trainees and graduates for a feature on one of the oldest green-collar job-training programs in the nation. The program was launched by the Chicago Department of Environment in 1994 and is managed by WRD Environmental.
Jackie started the day at McAdam Landscaping, in Forest Park, where four Greencorps graduates are now employed. And she ended the day with current Greencorps trainees, who were on their first day in the field after a month of classroom learning. Their project: building raised beds for community gardeners in Chase Park, on Chicago's Northwest Side.
WRD’s Geoff Deigan provided some perspective on the breadth and impact of the program.
