Client Profile

Woodridge School District 68 serves approximately 2,400 elementary and middle school students in south-central DuPage County. Edgewood Elementary is one of the district's schools.


Goal
  • Work closely with Woodridge School District personnel and teachers at Edgewood to design and implement green infrastructure strategies and outdoor learning opportunities
Sample Results
  • Replaced nearly 1 1/2 acres of asphalt and concrete with permeable pavers, including the playground, basketball court and four-square court. This is the first time known that permeable pavers have been used as a surface for recreation.
  • Resolved flooding and sidewalk frost-heave problems around the school
  • Acquired stormwater grants from DuPage County for $84,000 and from IEPA $462,500
  • Created a reading garden and an outdoor learning space for curriculum enhancement
